“HaTikvah” (The Hope) is the national anthem of Israel. This anthem expresses the hope for peace and tranquility in the state of Israel. The words of the poem were written by Naphtali Zvi Imbar and used as the anthem of the Zionist movement even before the establishment of the state of Israel. After a few minor adjustments, HaTikvah was accepted as the official national anthem. The design features a large Israeli flag against a blue sky on top. To the side of the Hebrew and English text of the anthem is the official seal of the state of Israel – the menorah and olive leaves. On top of the seal is perched a white dove holding an olive branch.
